Research

Tip

When reading the parish book make sure to read the entire page as you may find interesting details or persons.

Research

Genealogical research can give a very good picture of what life was like for your ancestors. Here we present the different types of books that we do our research in to find information for you.

  • Parish books (Husförhörslängder/Församlingsböcker)

  • Moving in and out books (In- och utflyttningslängder)

  • Birth and baptism books (Födelse- och dopböcker)

  • Confirmation and communion books (konfirmations- och kommunionlängder)

  • Banns and Marriage books (Lysnings- och vigselböcker)

  • Death and burial books (Död- och begravningsböcker)

The Archives

Some are easy to find and others may take som more time to locate. Depending on if you are casually looking for a name and an address or you need a formal copy of an authenticated document, we look in one of three places.

Arkiv Digital

Arkiv Digital, a software tool containing more than 87 million photographed parish books etc lets us find information from all over Sweden. But documents 70 years or younger are kept secret due to privacy restrictions.

Riksarkivet

The Swedish National Archives hold the documents that were previously kept in the parishes.

These documents have been photographed for Arkiv Digital, as well as many more that have not, yet, been photographed.

Skatteverket

The Swedish Tax Agency took over registering information about Swedish residents in 1991.

Here you will find information about now living residents and information pertaining to residents who died after 1991.
